ICARUS

All eyes are turned skyward…  Angels are everywhere…  As once again, a young soul soars through the sky high above…  But this time, the story is different, and all will see with different eyes…  The legend is reborn…

“Icarus” is the 4th full-length album from Alan Guño.  And again, we see a story is weaving through each song on this album.  However, this time, the tale is one we know.  But now this story takes on a different perspective.

“The story of Icarus is traditionally one that ends in shame and humiliation and a stern warning to not be like that guy who flew too close to the sun,” explains Alan.  “But this album takes another look at that legend – and asks what happens if you take a different perspective.

“There are so many people who have great dreams – They are fortunate enough to know what they want to do with their lives.  And they go out there and make an attempt…  And what happens?  They get laughed at, they get ridiculed, and people are asking them why they would even bother.

“Icarus had a dream, too – and in the end, it didn’t turn out the way he would have wanted.  But for those brief, shining moments, he was truly alive…  And I think all of us are searching to be truly alive.  But that doesn’t happen by keeping our feet on the ground.”
Alan’s new album explores many aspects of flight and seeking your dreams – from the thrill of soaring to the despair of being grounded.  All 13 songs address the theme of flight in some manner, and help build this new retelling of the old legend. The album’s lead-off singles “Breathe” and “Somebody’s Angel” show Alan in his finest pop ballad form, while the title track “Icarus” sends a rock edge through the album’s most powerful imagery.  The dramatic despair of “Magdalene” and “Falling” give way to the introspective “Dolphins” and “When I was Superman”.  And the Italian “Vola Ancora Piu in Alto” and the rousing “Fly” complete the album, reminding us that all of us can fly – and all of us can act on our dreams and be truly and fully alive.

“I am so excited to release this album”, says Alan.  “It says some things that I think are really important for people to remember – especially now - when even some TV shows are built around showing people falling as they pursue their dreams – These shows are sending the message that it would be better not to try…  They are wrong…”

“The legend of Icarus tells us that there is always risk in life,” continues Alan.  “It is my hope that this album – this rebirth of the legend – will also remind us that the risk is worth it – as there is always an incredible life just waiting to be lived.”
